Kirby has been nominated as a finalist for Autodesk’s prestigious AEC Excellence Awards 2020. This is the first year Kirby has submitted an entry, which makes inclusion on the list of finalists an even greater honour.
The company’s entry, Cutting Edge Digital Construction on a Hyperscale Data Centre Project, consisted of a €75m, 60MW Hyperscale Data Centre in Dublin for a leading cloud computing provider. Kirby was the main mechanical and electrical contractor on the project, constructing two new data centres.
Kirby took the lead co-ordinator role and successfully delivered this project through cutting-edge digital construction capabilities, close collaboration with design and construction partners, and application of prefabrication and modularisation expertise.
The entire electrical switchrooms were assembled from modular units in highly engineered prefabricated components and provided the client with customised solution that was flexible, scalable and facilitated rapid deployment schedules.
Kirby is listed as a finalist in the awards’ Construction category, for projects worth less than $100m. Finalists were selected from a 260-strong field of entries from 35 countries and the winners will be announced in October.
Autodesk says that in a year defined by hardships and change, they are ‘pleased to showcase the ways in which the global architecture, engineering and construction industry is successfully reimagining what’s possible’.
