The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) has thanked Kirby for being a ‘Christmas Angel’ following a €12,000 donation by the company. The donation, which is part of Kirby’s annual Christmas charity donation, will support the vital work of SVP. This winter alone, SVP expects to help over 50,000 families in communities across the country with basics like food, fuel and school.
Jimmy Kirby, Kirby Group Managing Director, presented the donation to SVP on behalf of Kirby. Speaking at the presentation, Jimmy Kirby said: “Supporting the communities in which we work is very important to us at Kirby so our donation will be divided amongst SVP’s regional branches in Dublin, Galway and Limerick with each branch getting €4,000.”
Commenting on the donation, Deirdre Mullen, SVP Community Fundraising Coordinator said: “The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is delighted to have received a generous donation from Kirby. This kind donation will help us deal with poverty, alleviating its effects on individuals and families through a unique system of family visitation and seeking to achieve social justice and equality of opportunity for all citizens.”
Every year, Kirby makes a significant contribution to a substantial number of charities and community initiatives. During 2019, Kirby donated to an additional 40 local, national and international charities.
