The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will manage the full mechanical estimating process from tender enquiry through to successful project handover. Working closely with the wider bid, commercial, and delivery teams, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed and accurate mechanical tenders through comprehensive take‑offs and use of estimating software
  • Reviewing estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and full compliance with tender requirements
  • Interpreting mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and Employer’s Requirements
  • Coordinating the tendering process and interfacing with internal departments to ensure timely and compliant submissions
  • Managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries and reviewing quotations for technical and commercial accuracy
  • Assisting with technical submissions, including inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and programmes of work
  • Identifying project risks, opportunities, and technical challenges, advising the bid team on mitigation strategies
  • Managing multiple tenders simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
  • Attending tender and post‑tender meetings as required
  • Supporting project handover by briefing the construction team on scope, estimates, complex installation requirements, and key assumptions
  • Ensuring all client and company information is handled securely and in line with information security policies

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent technical qualification and experience)
  • Proven experience in mechanical estimating within building services, M&E, or engineering environments
  • Demonstrable experience working on complex building services projects, including technically challenging installations
  • Strong technical understanding of complex pipework systems, fabrication, and welding methodologies
  • Ability to interpret and assess complex mechanical designs, specifications, and construction constraints
  • Commercially astute with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ambition to develop into a senior technical and leadership role
