Senior CSA Quantity Surveyor – Milan
Because a project only makes money when someone actually counts it properly.
Most companies will tell you they want a “commercially astute self‑starter” who can “work in a fast‑paced environment.”
We’ll spare you that.
We’ll spare you that.
What we actually need is a Senior CSA Quantity Surveyor who understands that the real work sits somewhere between commercial control, forensic record‑keeping, and not letting subcontractors get away with murder.
This role is Milan‑based, supporting major data centre projects. If you like structure, complexity, and contracts that don’t forgive laziness — you’ll probably enjoy this.
What you’ll be doing
A mix of the usual QS work and the things that actually matter:
- Taking projects from tender to final account and squeezing every bit of commercial value out of them.
- Producing monthly applications that are complete, accurate, and don’t require a scavenger hunt to explain remeasures, dayworks, or changes.
- Identifying escalations in materials or labour — and acting before they become someone else’s headache.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, remeasures, and variations without letting the relationship (or the budget) fall apart.
- Working closely with Planning to make sure progress reporting isn’t just optimistic fiction.
- Tracking, recording and backing up everything — because good commercial outcomes rely on good evidence.
- Negotiating with clients or their representatives in a way that’s firm, fair, and occasionally persuasive.
- Flagging risks early, reporting them properly, and following the direction of Senior Management when needed.
- Setting the standard on pace, accuracy, professionalism and work ethic.
What you’ll need
- Solid CSA Quantity Surveying experience on complex projects.
- The ability to cost, agree and manage daily changes without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- A practical understanding of scheduling and how commercial outcomes rise or fall with it.
- Strong communication skills — internally and with clients.
- The ability to prioritise without being micromanaged.
- A habit of keeping information secure and compliant with ISMS requirements.
What you’ll get
- A genuinely influential role on high‑value projects.
- The autonomy to manage your own commercial workstream, not just push paper.
- A team that knows how to deliver and expects the same from you.
- The added bonus of doing all this in Milan — not the worst location to spend your weekdays.
If you’re a CSA QS who cares about the numbers, the detail, the contracts and the commercial outcomes — not the buzzwords — then this is probably the right move for you.
