Role 
The purpose of the Quality Advisor is to actively promote the core value of Quality across the geography of our operations requiring travel to projects in Ireland, UK and Europe. They have good working knowledge and experience of construction including project management, regulatory requirements, quality assurance, quality control, inspection, testing and turnover. They are excellent communicators with good interpersonal skills and can work both autonomously and as part of a broader team. 
Responsibilities 

  • Actively promote the culture of quality and compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS), regulatory requirements, national and European standards.  
  • Generate project specific Quality Plans for review and approval by the project team ensuring quality requirements and deliverables are clearly detailed. 
  • Maintain the Quality Site Visit schedule and attend site ensuring each project is visited on regular basis.   
  • Support and guide project teams with the QMS processes and forms and ‘Kirby Way’ method of project delivery ensuring that quality standards are consistently met.  
  • Conduct thorough internal audits of projects to verify adherence and compliance with the Quality Plan and the QM), documenting findings in comprehensive reports. Follow up and assist project teams close out open actions and observations. 
  • Review project specifications and provide guidance on appropriate national and European standards and regulatory requirements. Help identify non-conformances on projects, assist with site investigations and help project teams close them out.   
  • Assist preparation of new and/or review and update of existing Quality processes and forms incorporating Lessons Learned and corrective actions from nonconformances . 
  • Develop Quality Alerts based on specialist reports, and Lessons Learned to promote best practice across projects. 
  • Provide training on Quality processes to project teams at the local level, ensuring that team members have a strong understanding of quality expectations and procedures. 
  • Participate in external audits and take responsibility for closing out any findings raised during the audit process, demonstrating our commitment to continuous improvement. 

Quality Advisor – Qualifications & Experience 

  • 3rd level qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or time served apprentice). 
  • 10+ years experience in a QA/QC role i.e. Inspection, Testing, Walkdown or Turnover. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) 
  • Previous experience of Quality Management Systems e.g. ISO 9001 
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification and ability to conduct QA Audits. 
  • Experience of working on a (Life Science, Data Centre, Power, Utilities) construction site.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards requirements e.g. Building Control, PED, CPR, F-gases, etc., 
  • Ability to understand & interpret Project Specifications, Drawings, and Data Sheets. 

  
Desired competencies / special role requirements 

  • City & Guilds Electrical Inspection & Testing. 
  • Compex Ex01-04 training / certification.  
  • CSWIP 3.0 Visual Welding Inspector / CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector. 
  • PCN / ASNT Level II certification in NDT (Radiographic and/or Ultrasonic Testing. 
  • Knowledge / experience of MV/LV systems and equipment. 
  • Knowledge / experience of I&C installations  
  • Knowledge / experience working with electrical standards e.g. BS7671, IS 10101, EN 50110-1. 
  • Knowledge / experience of statutory legislation e.g. Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (UK), SHWA Regulations 2007 Part 3 Electricity (ROI) 
  • Knowledge / experience of mechanical systems and equipment. 
  • Knowledge / experience of process piping systems and equipment. 
  • Knowledge / experience working with welding standards e.g. ISO 15614-1, ISO 9606-1 
  • Knowledge /experience of Life Safety Systems (Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Fire / Smoke Duct, etc.) 
  • Knowledge / experience of FAT/FWT & Equipment Walkdowns. 
  • Knowledge / experience of CSA works and standards e.g. Eurocodes, EN 1090.
