QC Engineer

Project QC Engineer – Data Centre

Location: Milan, Italy

Let’s be honest.
Quality doesn’t fail at handover. It fails months earlier when inspections slip, data gets messy and issues aren’t closed properly.

We’re hiring a Project QC Engineer to manage the detail that keeps data centre projects under control. This is a site‑based role focused on QC deliverables, test packs, walkdowns, snag tracking and reporting — the work that turns construction progress into a clean, defensible handover.

If you like structure, accountability and seeing systems signed off properly, you’ll fit in.

The Role

As a Project QC Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing, managing and maintaining quality control deliverables across the project. You’ll work closely with construction, commissioning, BIM, EHS, supply chain and client teams to ensure inspections are planned, issues are tracked, and data is accurate.
This is a delivery role, not an observational one.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Culture & Site Behaviour

You will:
  • Lead by example in ethics, EHS, teamwork, cultural awareness and quality behaviours.
  • Promote a positive quality culture and a “right first time” mindset on site.
  • Comply with all project EHS requirements including PPE, permits and procedures.
  • Support development of project‑specific method statements where required.
  • Build effective working relationships with planning, engineering, operations, commissioning, EHS, supply chain and client teams.

Inspection, Testing & Test Packs

You will:
  • Develop, maintain and manage Inspection & Test Plans and inspection checklists.
  • Track approvals in line with submittal and construction programmes.
  • Monitor weld traceability including weld logs, welder qualifications, heat maps, visual inspections and NDT requirements.
  • Develop and agree test pack lists and contents with relevant stakeholders.
  • Define system limits and boundaries for test packs and track each pack through completion.
  • Compile hard‑copy and digital test packs for walkdowns and final handover.

Walkdowns, Snags & Systems

You will:
  • Plan walkdowns using two‑week lookaheads and track planned vs actual performance.
  • Issue notifications for W1, W2 and W3 walkdowns and turnovers.
  • Lead third‑party walkdowns in line with ITPs and commissioning plans.
  • Carry out internal pre‑test walkdowns using schematics, SLDs and P&IDs to confirm design compliance.
  • Track issues and snags, driving close‑out with the wider project team.
  • Review benchmark and First of Kind installations and report progress.

BIM, Data & Reporting

You will:
  • Liaise with the BIM team on field space creation and custom project attributes.
  • Ensure data integrity across BIM 360 / ACC platforms, with correct issue ownership, categorisation, due dates and responsibilities.
  • Implement QR code tagging and tracking for free‑issue and procured equipment.
  • Monitor Power BI dashboards for accurate reporting on issues, inspections and progress.
  • Track KPIs and supply chain performance and support corrective action plans.

Compliance, Improvement & Sustainability

You will:
  • Monitor calibration and certification of inspection, measuring and test equipment.
  • Manage system, equipment and asset tagging, including red, yellow and green status.
  • Coordinate with the commissioning team on L3–L5 startup and commissioning schedules.
  • Complete root cause analysis and monitor corrective actions where required.
  • Encourage and support lessons learned during execution and facilitate workshops to prevent repeat issues.
  • Develop BCAR, LEED and BREEAM plans in line with ITP requirements.
  • Organise required inspections and compile certificates for inclusion in handover packs.
  • Recognise operatives and teams delivering quality excellence on site.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll typically have:
  • Experience in a QC Engineer or quality inspection role on large construction projects.
  • Exposure to data centres, pharmaceuticals or other regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of inspections, test packs, walkdowns and handover processes.
  • Ability to read drawings, schematics, SLDs and P&IDs.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence working across multidisciplinary site teams.

Why This Role?

  • Major data centre project in Milan with technical complexity.
  • A hands‑on role close to commissioning and handover.
  • Clear processes, strong quality leadership and support.
  • Long‑term opportunities across a growing European project portfolio.

The Bottom Line

This role is for someone who understands that quality is delivered through planning, tracking and follow‑through, not last‑minute firefighting.

If you want to build serious QC experience on serious projects, this role does exactly that.
