Logistics Manager – not a desk job. You know the type of site where space is tighter than a Ryanair seat and everything needs to move like clockwork or the whole job stalls?
Yeah. That one. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Logistics Manager who’s half traffic controller, half chess grandmaster — someone who can see the whole board, several moves ahead, and keep the chaos at bay.
This isn’t a clipboard role. You’ll be right in the thick of it — defining and managing all on-site storage, coordinating deliveries, and making sure subcontractors don’t treat the place like a free-for-all.
If someone dumps a pallet where it shouldn’t be, you’ll sort it. If there’s no room for the next delivery, you’ll fix that too. You’ll own the booking system, the delivery schedules, and the clever stuff that makes sites run smoothly when everyone else is focused on the build.
You’ll work with Project Managers, Subcontractors, Security, and probably a few people who think they’re in charge of logistics. You’ll set them straight, tactfully of course.
You’ll also be the one making sure cranes, hoists, and anything that moves up and down is actually being used properly — not sitting idle while materials pile up in the wrong place.
It’s a job for someone who loves making systems work in messy environments. Someone who gets satisfaction from order. And someone who can politely, but firmly, tell people: “No. That doesn’t go there.”
What you’ll actually do:
- Control every square inch of available storage, inside and out
- Allocate storage based on project needs (not just who shouts the loudest)
- Own the booking and delivery of materials — nothing arrives without your say-so
- Liaise with subcontractors and security so everyone’s singing off the same logistics hymn sheet
- Coordinate holding areas and introduce a proper call-off system
- Maximise use of cranes and hoists — no dead time
- Lead (and probably dominate) the weekly delivery coordination meeting
- Be the essential link between the gate and the build — making sure materials don’t just arrive, but arrive ready to go, in the right place, at the right time
What you need:
- Experience managing logistics on live construction sites
- Strong coordination skills (you’ll be spinning a lot of plates)
- Thick skin — you’ll need to hold your ground
- A good brain for systems, scheduling, and getting people to do things they didn’t plan on doing
- Familiarity with web-based delivery booking tools (or enough savvy to learn one fast)
- A calm head when stuff hits the fan
This role is site-based. It’s full-on. And it’s important.
Because if logistics fall apart, everything else does too.
