Instructional Designer

Position Title: L&D Specialist – Learning & Instructional Design Officer

Reports To: Change and Learning Lead
 
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced L&D Specialist – Learning & Instructional Design to join our Talent Development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing effective training programs (technical and general) and materials that align with our organizational values and enhance the leading-edge skills and knowledge of our employees. This role requires a deep understanding of learning and instructional design principles, strong project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with senior managers, subject matter experts and stakeholders.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Instructional Design:
Design and develop engaging and effective training programs (technical and general), including e-learning modules, instructor-led courses, workshops, and blended learning solutions.
Utilize various instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create high-quality training materials.
Conduct needs assessments and analyze performance gaps to determine training requirements and objectives.
 
Content Development:
 
Create and curate content that is relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards and best practices.
Develop multimedia elements such as videos, simulations, interactive activities, and assessments to enhance learning experiences.
Ensure all training materials are consistent with the company’s brand and style guidelines.
 
Project Management:
 
Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project scope and budget.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, and other stakeholders to gather information and validate content accuracy.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements based on feedback and data analysis.
Project manage programme delivery as required.
 
Technology Integration:
 
Leverage learning management systems (LMS) and other technologies to deliver and track training programs.
Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in instructional design and integrate them into the company’s L&D strategies.
 
Continuous Improvement:
 
Conduct regular reviews and updates of training materials and programmes to ensure they remain current and relevant.
Provide recommendations for improving training effectiveness and learner engagement.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional design skills and knowledge.
 
Qualifications:
 
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design and development and training programme delivery, preferably within the engineering or construction industry.
Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
Certification in instructional design or a related field.
Experience with competency-based training and assessment.
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and terminology.
Familiarity with global and cross-cultural training considerations.
